Air Fryer Ultramel Scones

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup cold butter, cubed
  • 1/2 cup Ultramel custard (or any other custard of your choice)
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Milk (for brushing)
  • Powdered sugar (for dusting)

  1. Preheat your air fryer to 350°F (180°C) for a few minutes.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Add the cold, cubed butter to the dry ingredients. Use a pastry cutter or your fingers to work the butter into the dry mixture until it resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the Ultramel custard, egg, and vanilla extract.
  5. Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients and stir until a soft dough forms. Be careful not to overmix; just mix until all the ingredients come together.
  6. Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and gently knead it a few times to ensure it’s well combined.
  7. Roll or pat the dough to about 1-inch (2.5 cm) thickness.
  8. Use a biscuit cutter or a glass to cut out scones. Dip the cutter or glass into flour to prevent sticking.
  9. Place the scones in the preheated air fryer basket, leaving a little space between each one.
  10. Brush the tops of the scones with a bit of milk to help them brown nicely.
  11. Air fry the scones at 350°F (180°C) for 10-12 minutes or until they are golden brown and cooked through. Cooking times may vary depending on your air fryer, so keep an eye on them.
  12. Once done, carefully remove the scones from the air fryer and let them cool slightly on a wire rack.
  13. Dust the scones with powdered sugar before serving.
