An adorable shelter puppy became an internet sensation after staff discovered he had an unusual talent: whenever someone spoke to him sweetly, he would flash an enormous toothy smile! And that adorable grin eventually helped him find a loving home! 
The heartwarming story began in February 2020, when an eight-week-old Labrador mix named Burreaux arrived at the Humane Society of Northwest Louisiana alongside his siblings.
The little puppy had already faced a difficult start in life.
He was the smallest of his litter and had to receive treatment for parvovirus, a serious illness that can be especially dangerous for young dogs.
Thankfully, Burreaux recovered, and shelter workers soon noticed something extraordinary about his personality!
Whenever someone approached him and spoke in a gentle, affectionate voice, he would pull back his lips to reveal an enormous grin that looked almost exactly like a human smile!
And the expression was absolutely priceless!
Shelter volunteers couldn’t resist filming his unusual behaviour, and when they shared the adorable footage online, Burreaux quickly became an internet sensation.
Thousands of people fell in love with the little puppy who appeared to be smiling from ear to ear!
But perhaps the sweetest part is what happened next.
In March 2020, a woman named Hollie King adopted Burreaux after being captivated by his famous smile.
She welcomed him into her family and gave him a new name, Pappy!
And there’s a particularly funny twist to the story.
His new owner later revealed that she hadn’t actually seen him perform his famous grin since bringing him home!
Although nobody knows exactly why Burreaux made the expression, his unusual little smile helped attract the attention that ultimately led him to a loving family.
