2 cups shredded cheese (cheddar, Monterey Jack, or a blend)
1 teaspoon ground cumin
1 teaspoon chili powder
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional, for heat)
Salt and black pepper to taste
Cooking spray
Instructions:
Preheat Air Fryer:
Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C).
Prepare the Filling:
In a mixing bowl, combine the shredded cheese, ground cumin, chili powder, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne pepper (if using), salt, and black pepper. Mix well.
Assemble the Taquitos:
Place a tortilla on a flat surface, and spoon about 2 tablespoons of the cheese mixture along one edge of the tortilla. Roll the tortilla tightly around the filling to form a taquito. Repeat with the remaining tortillas.
Secure with Toothpicks (Optional):
If needed, secure the taquitos with toothpicks to prevent them from unraveling during cooking. Just remember to remove the toothpicks before serving.
Spray with Cooking Spray:
Lightly spray the taquitos with cooking spray. This helps them achieve a crispy texture in the air fryer.
Air Fry:
Place the taquitos in the air fryer basket, ensuring they are not touching. Cook in batches if necessary.
Air fry for about 8-10 minutes or until the taquitos are golden brown and crispy.
Serve:
Carefully remove the taquitos from the air fryer and let them cool for a minute or two before serving.
Optional: Dipping Sauce:
Serve the air-fried cheese taquitos with your favorite dipping sauce, such as salsa, guacamole, or sour cream.
