air fried cheese taquitos!

  • 8 small corn or flour tortillas
  • 2 cups shredded cheese (cheddar, Monterey Jack, or a blend)
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional, for heat)
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • Cooking spray

  1. Preheat Air Fryer:
    • Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Prepare the Filling:
    • In a mixing bowl, combine the shredded cheese, ground cumin, chili powder, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne pepper (if using), salt, and black pepper. Mix well.
  3. Assemble the Taquitos:
    • Place a tortilla on a flat surface, and spoon about 2 tablespoons of the cheese mixture along one edge of the tortilla. Roll the tortilla tightly around the filling to form a taquito. Repeat with the remaining tortillas.
  4. Secure with Toothpicks (Optional):
    • If needed, secure the taquitos with toothpicks to prevent them from unraveling during cooking. Just remember to remove the toothpicks before serving.
  5. Spray with Cooking Spray:
    • Lightly spray the taquitos with cooking spray. This helps them achieve a crispy texture in the air fryer.
  6. Air Fry:
    • Place the taquitos in the air fryer basket, ensuring they are not touching. Cook in batches if necessary.
    • Air fry for about 8-10 minutes or until the taquitos are golden brown and crispy.
  7. Serve:
    • Carefully remove the taquitos from the air fryer and let them cool for a minute or two before serving.
  8. Optional: Dipping Sauce:
    • Serve the air-fried cheese taquitos with your favorite dipping sauce, such as salsa, guacamole, or sour cream.
