Philly Cheesesteak Meatloaf.


  • For the Meatloaf:
    • 1 ½ lbs ground beef
    • 1 cup breadcrumbs
    • 1 large egg
    • 1 small onion, finely chopped
    • 1 green bell pepper, finely chopped
    • 1 cup shredded provolone cheese (or cheese of your choice)
    • 2 cloves garlic, minced
    • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
    • 1 teaspoon salt
    • ½ teaspoon black pepper
    • ½ teaspoon dried thyme (optional)
    • ½ cup milk
  • For the Topping:
    • 1 cup sliced mushrooms
    • 1 small onion, sliced
    • 1 green bell pepper, sliced
    • 1 tablespoon olive oil
    • 1 cup shredded provolone cheese (or cheese of your choice)


  1. Preheat Oven:
    • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Prepare the Meatloaf Mixture:
    • In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, chopped onion, chopped green bell pepper, shredded cheese, minced garlic, Worcestershire sauce, salt, black pepper, dried thyme (if using), and milk. Mix well until all ingredients are thoroughly combined.
  3. Shape the Meatloaf:
    • Transfer the meat mixture to a loaf pan and shape it into a loaf.
  4. Bake the Meatloaf:
    • Bake in the preheated oven for 45 minutes.
  5. Prepare the Topping:
    • While the meatloaf is baking, heat the olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the sliced mushrooms, onion, and bell pepper. Sauté until the vegetables are tender and caramelized, about 10-15 minutes.
  6. Add the Topping:
    • After the meatloaf has baked for 45 minutes, remove it from the oven. Spread the sautéed vegetables evenly over the top of the meatloaf. Sprinkle the remaining shredded cheese over the vegetables.
  7. Finish Baking:
    • Return the meatloaf to the oven and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  8. Serve:
    • Allow the meatloaf to rest for a few minutes before slicing. Serve hot and enjoy!


  • You can use a mix of ground beef and ground pork for added flavor.
  • Feel free to add other vegetables or spices to suit your taste.
  • Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
