HOMEMADE PIZZA POCKETS
Ingredients:
- 1 package of refrigerated pizza dough (or make your own)
- 1 cup pizza sauce
- 1 ½ cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- ½ cup pepperoni slices, chopped (optional)
- ½ cup cooked sausage, crumbled (optional)
- ½ cup diced vegetables (bell peppers, onions, mushrooms, etc.)
- 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
- 1 tsp Italian seasoning (optional)
- Flour (for dusting)
Instructions:
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). If using an air fryer, preheat it to 375°F (190°C).
- Prepare the Dough: Roll out the pizza dough on a lightly floured surface to about ¼-inch thickness. Cut the dough into squares or rectangles, depending on the desired size of your pizza pockets.
- Add Fillings: Spread a tablespoon of pizza sauce on one half of each dough square, leaving a small border around the edges. Sprinkle a generous amount of mozzarella cheese over the sauce. Add your desired toppings like pepperoni, sausage, and vegetables.
- Seal the Pockets: Fold the dough over the filling to form a pocket. Press the edges with a fork to seal them securely. If the dough isn’t sticking well, you can brush a little water along the edges before sealing.
- Egg Wash: Brush the tops of the pizza pockets with the beaten egg. This will give them a nice golden color when baked. Sprinkle with Italian seasoning if desired.
- Bake or Air Fry:
- Oven: Place the pizza pockets on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy.
- Air Fryer: Place the pizza pockets in the air fryer basket in a single layer. Air fry for 8-10 minutes, or until golden and cooked through.
- Cool and Serve: Allow the pizza pockets to cool for a few minutes before serving. Enjoy with extra pizza sauce or your favorite dipping sauce!
