Alabama Police Officer, 25, Killed in Motorcycle Accident Just Weeks After Getting Married and Buying His First Home
“I’m waiting for him to walk through the doors,” the officer’s grieving wife, Chloe Greiner-Davis, said
An Alabama police officer died in a motorcycle accident, just weeks after he got married and bought his first house.
Cpl. Dakota Davis died after he “succumbed to injuries he received from an off-duty motor vehicle accident” on Hwy 31 N at the I-65 Pine Level exit on Monday, Oct. 26, the Prattville Police Department (PPD) announced on Tuesday, Oct. 27.
Just over two weeks earlier, the 25-year-old and his wife, Chloe Greiner-Davis, wed on Oct. 10, shortly after they closed on their first home on Oct. 1, according to a GoFundMe.
“I’m waiting for him to walk through the doors,” Chloe told WSFA in an emotional joint interview with her late husband’s father, Paul Davis.
“I was so upset that he got a motorcycle, but I knew it was his calling,” she continued about Dakota. “My biggest thing was you could be the best driver on this planet, but other people just don’t know how to drive.
Dakota’s father remembered him as “a man of few words,” telling WSFA through tears, “He meant what he said.”
“Deep into the heart. He didn’t say it unless he meant it,” Paul continued, adding that his son was a “very outgoing young man.”
“He loved his family, loved playing sports,” the mourning father said.
When asked about a final message they would share with Dakota, Chloe said, “I just want him to know that I love him. So much. I just love him so much.”
Paul added, “That he’s loved, he’s missed, and … I ask him to please look over his wife.”
According to the GoFundMe, Dakota and Chloe had “just begun building their life together” after purchasing their home and tying the knot earlier this month.
Now Chloe is “trying to carry this loss while continuing to work toward her Master’s in Education,” the crowdfunding page said.
“What should have been a time of celebration and new beginnings has turned into a time of grief and unexpected financial pressure,” it continued.
“Donations will help her with the immediate expenses she is facing, including an auto loan, temporary home and mortgage expenses, and moving expenses. This support would give her some breathing room as she navigates the days ahead and tries to keep moving forward during an incredibly painful time,” added the GoFundMe.

On Saturday, Oct. 31, the PPD shared photos on Facebook from Dakota’s funeral. “In a time of tremendous loss, let us stand together as a community and remind his family and fellow officers that they are surrounded by love and support,” the department wrote in the caption of its post.
No arrests had been made in connection with Dakota’s death. The accident investigation remains ongoing by the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, per the PPD.
