Air Fryer Onion Rings
Ingredients:
- 2 large onions, sliced into rings
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional, for some heat)
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup breadcrumbs (panko breadcrumbs work well for extra crispiness)
- Cooking spray or olive oil in a spray bottle
Instructions:
- Preheat the Air Fryer: Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C).
- Prepare the Onions: Peel and slice the onions into rings. Separate the rings and set them aside.
- Prepare the Coating Station:
- In one bowl, combine the flour, garlic powder, paprika, cayenne pepper (if using), salt, and black pepper.
- In another bowl, beat the eggs.
- Place the breadcrumbs in a third bowl.
- Coat the Onion Rings:
- Take each onion ring and dip it into the flour mixture, making sure it’s evenly coated.
- Next, dip the coated ring into the beaten eggs.
- Finally, coat the ring in breadcrumbs, pressing them onto the surface to adhere.
- Arrange in the Air Fryer Basket:
- Lightly spray or brush the air fryer basket with oil.
- Place the coated onion rings in a single layer in the basket, ensuring they are not touching.
- Air Fry:
- Cook the onion rings in the preheated air fryer at 375°F (190°C) for about 8-10 minutes, flipping halfway through.
- Keep an eye on them to ensure they reach your desired level of crispiness.
- Serve:
- Once the onion rings are golden brown and crispy, remove them from the air fryer.
- Serve immediately with your favorite dipping sauce, such as ketchup, aioli, or ranch dressing.
