Air Fryer Onion Rings

Ingredients:

  • 2 large onions, sliced into rings
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional, for some heat)
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs (panko breadcrumbs work well for extra crispiness)
  • Cooking spray or olive oil in a spray bottle

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the Air Fryer: Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Prepare the Onions: Peel and slice the onions into rings. Separate the rings and set them aside.
  3. Prepare the Coating Station:
    • In one bowl, combine the flour, garlic powder, paprika, cayenne pepper (if using), salt, and black pepper.
    • In another bowl, beat the eggs.
    • Place the breadcrumbs in a third bowl.
  4. Coat the Onion Rings:
    • Take each onion ring and dip it into the flour mixture, making sure it’s evenly coated.
    • Next, dip the coated ring into the beaten eggs.
    • Finally, coat the ring in breadcrumbs, pressing them onto the surface to adhere.
  5. Arrange in the Air Fryer Basket:
    • Lightly spray or brush the air fryer basket with oil.
    • Place the coated onion rings in a single layer in the basket, ensuring they are not touching.
  6. Air Fry:
    • Cook the onion rings in the preheated air fryer at 375°F (190°C) for about 8-10 minutes, flipping halfway through.
    • Keep an eye on them to ensure they reach your desired level of crispiness.
  7. Serve:
    • Once the onion rings are golden brown and crispy, remove them from the air fryer.
    • Serve immediately with your favorite dipping sauce, such as ketchup, aioli, or ranch dressing.
