  • 2 slices of your favorite bread
  • 2 slices of cheese (e.g., cheddar, American, Swiss, or any of your choice)
  • Butter or cooking spray (for toasting)
  • Optional add-ins (e.g., sliced tomatoes, bacon, ham, or herbs)


  1. Preheat your air fryer to 350°F (175°C) for a few minutes.
  2. While the air fryer is preheating, assemble your sandwich. Lay one slice of cheese between the two slices of bread. If you like, you can add additional ingredients like sliced tomatoes, bacon, or ham.
  3. Lightly butter the outside of the bread slices or use a cooking spray. This will give your sandwich a golden and crispy texture.
  4. Place the prepared sandwich in the air fryer basket. Make sure it’s in a single layer and not overlapping.
  5. Cook the sandwich in the preheated air fryer at 350°F (175°C) for about 4-6 minutes. Check the sandwich after about 3-4 minutes to ensure it’s browning evenly. You may need to flip the sandwich if one side is cooking faster than the other.
  6. Continue cooking until the bread is golden brown, and the cheese is melted and gooey.
  7. Carefully remove the grilled cheese sandwich from the air fryer using tongs or a spatula. Be cautious as it will be hot.
  8. Allow the sandwich to cool for a minute or two before cutting it in half, allowing the cheese to set a bit.
  9. Serve your air fryer grilled cheese sandwich with your favorite dipping sauce or condiments, such as ketchup, tomato soup, or a side salad….
