Vegan Tahini Pasta


  • 8 oz (about 225g) pasta of your choice (such as spaghetti, fettuccine, or penne)
  • 1/4 cup tahini
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons nutritional yeast
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce or tamari
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (adjust to taste)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Chopped fresh parsley, for garnish (optional)
  • Toasted sesame seeds, for garnish (optional)


  1. Cook the Pasta:
    • Cook the pasta according to the package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside, reserving about 1/2 cup of pasta water.
  2. Prepare the Tahini Sauce:
    • In a small bowl, whisk together the tahini, minced garlic, lemon juice, nutritional yeast, soy sauce (or tamari), olive oil, red pepper flakes, salt, and pepper until smooth.
  3. Combine Pasta and Sauce:
    • Return the cooked pasta to the pot or a large skillet over low heat.
    • Pour the tahini sauce over the pasta and toss well to coat, adding a splash of reserved pasta water if needed to thin out the sauce and help it evenly coat the pasta.
  4. Heat Through:
    • Cook the pasta and sauce together over low heat, stirring frequently, until heated through, about 2-3 minutes. Be careful not to let the sauce stick to the bottom of the pan.
  5. Serve:
    • Once heated through, remove the pasta from heat.
    • Divide the pasta among serving plates or bowls.
    • Garnish with chopped fresh parsley and toasted sesame seeds, if desired.
  6. Enjoy:
    • Serve immediately and enjoy your delicious Vegan Tahini Pasta!


  • Feel free to customize this recipe by adding your favorite vegetables, such as steamed broccoli, roasted cherry tomatoes, or sautéed spinach.
  • Adjust the seasonings to your taste preferences. If you prefer a milder sauce, reduce the amount of red pepper flakes.
