oregano mild tea

*Ingredients – Serves 1 – for mild tea*

– *Herb:*

– 1-2 fresh broadleaf oregano leaves – 3-5g – washed well – if small leaves use 2, if very large use 1

– Alternative if fresh not available: 1 tsp dried oregano – 1g – food grade

– *Tea Base:*

– 1 cup water – 240ml – filtered

– 1/2 tsp raw honey – 2.5g – optional

– 1 tsp lemon juice – 5ml – optional – for taste

– 1/4 inch fresh ginger – 2g – optional – for digestion

*Instructions*

– *Prep:*

– Rinse leaves thoroughly under running water

– Gently bruise leaf with fingers or lightly tear – helps release oils

– If using ginger, slice thin

– *Brew – Mild Infusion Method:*

– Boil water, then let cool 1 minute to about 90C – do not boil herb hard – preserves volatile oils

– Place leaf and ginger in cup, pour hot water over

– Cover cup with saucer – steep 5-7 minutes

– Strain leaves out

– *Finish:*

– Add honey and lemon only after straining if you like – stir

– Sip warm – slow

– *How to Use Safely:*

– Use as occasional tea – 1 cup per day max for few days – not daily long term

– Not for continuous daily use as medicine

– *Store:*

– Fresh leaves – wrap in damp paper towel in open container – fridge 3-4 days

– Tea – make fresh each time – do not store long
