2 medium carrots (not 3, to avoid excess sugar)
1/2 orange (not the whole one; excess acid can be irritating)
1 small handful of fresh spinach (about 20 grams)
1/2 green apple (better than red, as it has less sugar)
Juice of 1/4 of a lemon TryJuice Cleanses
150 ml of water (without water it becomes too thick and difficult to drink)
Wash all ingredients thoroughly. Cut into pieces. Blend in a blender with water. Do not strain: the fiber from the apple and spinach is important for the slow absorption of sugar. Drink immediately; the antioxidants oxidize in 20 minutes.
Instructions for use (what nobody tells you)
Do not drink on an empty stomach if you have gastritis. Lemon and orange can be irritating. It is best consumed after breakfast or as a mid-morning snack.
Recommended frequency: 3 or 4 times a week, not daily. Excess beta-carotene can cause orange peel-like skin (called carotenemia) and overload the liver.
Don’t expect changes in a week. Lutein levels take months to increase in the retina. Consistency is key, but so is patience.
The secret to success: add a healthy fat to the juice. Beta-carotene and lutein are absorbed with fat. Drink the juice with 5 almonds, half an avocado, or a small piece of cheese. Without this, many nutrients are lost. SampleArtisan Cheeses
Important warning: If you have diabetes, be careful with this juice: carrot + apple + orange contains a large amount of sugar. Opt for just carrot and spinach with lemon. If you take anticoagulants, consult your doctor before consuming spinach (rich in vitamin K). And if you notice floaters, flashes of light, or a black curtain of light in your vision, consult an ophthalmologist immediately. No juice can solve this.
