KETO SLOW COOKER SALISBURY STEAK

Ingredients:

For the Steak Patties:

  • 1 lb (450g) ground beef
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/4 cup almond flour (or crushed pork rinds for lower carbs)
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp dried parsley
  • Salt and pepper to taste

For the Gravy:

  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1/2 medium onion, thinly sliced
  • 1/2 cup sliced mushrooms (optional but recommended!)
  • 2 tbsp heavy cream
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce (make sure it’s keto-friendly)
  • 1/2 tsp xanthan gum (for thickening)
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions:

1. Prepare the Patties:

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine ground beef, egg, almond flour, Parmesan, and seasonings.
  2. Mix gently until combined; avoid overmixing.
  3. Form the mixture into 4-6 oval-shaped patties.

2. Brown the Patties:

  1. Heat a skillet over medium heat and lightly grease with oil or butter.
  2. Sear the patties on both sides until golden brown (they don’t need to cook through fully).
  3. Transfer the patties to your slow cooker.

3. Make the Gravy:

  1. In the same skillet, sauté the onions and mushrooms until soft.
  2. Add beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, and heavy cream.
  3. Sprinkle xanthan gum slowly while whisking to avoid clumps. Simmer for 2-3 minutes until slightly thickened.

4. Slow Cook:

  1. Pour the gravy over the patties in the slow cooker.
  2. Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours or high for 3-4 hours.

5. Serve:

  • Serve the Salisbury steaks hot with the rich gravy over mashed cauliflower or steamed veggies for a complete keto meal!
