KETO SLOW COOKER SALISBURY STEAK
Ingredients:
For the Steak Patties:
- 1 lb (450g) ground beef
- 1 large egg
- 1/4 cup almond flour (or crushed pork rinds for lower carbs)
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp onion powder
- 1 tsp dried parsley
- Salt and pepper to taste
For the Gravy:
- 2 cups beef broth
- 1/2 medium onion, thinly sliced
- 1/2 cup sliced mushrooms (optional but recommended!)
- 2 tbsp heavy cream
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce (make sure it’s keto-friendly)
- 1/2 tsp xanthan gum (for thickening)
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions:
1. Prepare the Patties:
- In a large mixing bowl, combine ground beef, egg, almond flour, Parmesan, and seasonings.
- Mix gently until combined; avoid overmixing.
- Form the mixture into 4-6 oval-shaped patties.
2. Brown the Patties:
- Heat a skillet over medium heat and lightly grease with oil or butter.
- Sear the patties on both sides until golden brown (they don’t need to cook through fully).
- Transfer the patties to your slow cooker.
3. Make the Gravy:
- In the same skillet, sauté the onions and mushrooms until soft.
- Add beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, and heavy cream.
- Sprinkle xanthan gum slowly while whisking to avoid clumps. Simmer for 2-3 minutes until slightly thickened.
4. Slow Cook:
- Pour the gravy over the patties in the slow cooker.
- Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours or high for 3-4 hours.
5. Serve:
- Serve the Salisbury steaks hot with the rich gravy over mashed cauliflower or steamed veggies for a complete keto meal!
