Keto Egg White Omelet

Ingredients:
- 4 large egg whites (or more, depending on how many servings you want)
- 1 tbsp olive oil or butter (for cooking)
- 1/4 cup shredded cheese (cheddar, mozzarella, or your favorite keto-friendly cheese)
- 1/4 cup diced bell peppers (optional, for some veggies)
- 1/4 cup chopped spinach (optional, or any leafy greens like kale or arugula)
- 1/4 cup cooked bacon or sausage (optional for added protein)
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1/4 tsp garlic powder (optional)
- Fresh herbs (optional, such as chives or parsley for garnish)
Instructions:
- Prepare the Ingredients:
- If you’re using vegetables like bell peppers or spinach, chop them into small pieces.
- Cook any meat (such as bacon or sausage) and chop it into small bits.
- Whisk the Egg Whites:
- In a bowl, whisk the egg whites together until they are frothy. This helps create a fluffier texture when cooked. Season with a pinch of salt, pepper, and garlic powder if desired.
- Heat the Pan:
- Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat and add 1 tbsp of olive oil or butter. Let it melt and coat the bottom of the pan.
- Cook the Omelet:
- Once the pan is hot, pour the egg whites into the skillet and spread them evenly.
- Let them cook for 2-3 minutes, or until the edges start to set. You can use a spatula to gently lift the edges if needed.
- Once the omelet is mostly set (but still slightly runny on top), add your fillings (cheese, veggies, meat, and herbs).
- Fold and Serve:
- Gently fold the omelet in half and cook for another minute or two until the cheese is melted and the inside is cooked through.
- Slide the omelet onto a plate, garnish with fresh herbs if desired, and serve immediately.
Tips:
- Customize fillings: Feel free to mix and match ingredients based on what you like. You can add mushrooms, zucchini, or avocado to keep it low-carb and keto-friendly.
- For extra fluff: Add a small splash of heavy cream to the egg whites before whisking to make them even fluffier.
- Make it a meal: Pair the omelet with a side of avocado or a simple salad for a complete keto breakfast or lunch.
Enjoy your light yet satisfying Keto Egg White Omelet! It’s the perfect healthy and protein-packed meal to start your day.
