Ingredients:

  • 4 large egg whites (or more, depending on how many servings you want)
  • 1 tbsp olive oil or butter (for cooking)
  • 1/4 cup shredded cheese (cheddar, mozzarella, or your favorite keto-friendly cheese)
  • 1/4 cup diced bell peppers (optional, for some veggies)
  • 1/4 cup chopped spinach (optional, or any leafy greens like kale or arugula)
  • 1/4 cup cooked bacon or sausage (optional for added protein)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/4 tsp garlic powder (optional)
  • Fresh herbs (optional, such as chives or parsley for garnish)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Ingredients:
    • If you’re using vegetables like bell peppers or spinach, chop them into small pieces.
    • Cook any meat (such as bacon or sausage) and chop it into small bits.
  2. Whisk the Egg Whites:
    • In a bowl, whisk the egg whites together until they are frothy. This helps create a fluffier texture when cooked. Season with a pinch of salt, pepper, and garlic powder if desired.
  3. Heat the Pan:
    • Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat and add 1 tbsp of olive oil or butter. Let it melt and coat the bottom of the pan.
  4. Cook the Omelet:
    • Once the pan is hot, pour the egg whites into the skillet and spread them evenly.
    • Let them cook for 2-3 minutes, or until the edges start to set. You can use a spatula to gently lift the edges if needed.
    • Once the omelet is mostly set (but still slightly runny on top), add your fillings (cheese, veggies, meat, and herbs).
  5. Fold and Serve:
    • Gently fold the omelet in half and cook for another minute or two until the cheese is melted and the inside is cooked through.
    • Slide the omelet onto a plate, garnish with fresh herbs if desired, and serve immediately.

Tips:

  • Customize fillings: Feel free to mix and match ingredients based on what you like. You can add mushrooms, zucchini, or avocado to keep it low-carb and keto-friendly.
  • For extra fluff: Add a small splash of heavy cream to the egg whites before whisking to make them even fluffier.
  • Make it a meal: Pair the omelet with a side of avocado or a simple salad for a complete keto breakfast or lunch.

Enjoy your light yet satisfying Keto Egg White Omelet! It’s the perfect healthy and protein-packed meal to start your day.
