There are certain recipes that instantly transport you to a cozy kitchen, where the smell of something buttery and cheesy fills the entire house. Greek Ham and Cheese Pie is exactly that kind of recipe for me. It’s the type of dish that feels comforting, simple, and special all at once — the kind of food that makes people wander into the kitchen asking, “What smells so good?”
Ingredients
For the Pie
8 sheets phyllo dough
3 tbsp olive oil or melted butter for brushing
Filling
2 cups diced ham about 200 g
1 ½ cups shredded cheese Gruyère, mozzarella, or cheddar
½ cup crumbled feta cheese
3 large eggs
1 cup whole milk
½ cup plain Greek yogurt
1 small onion finely chopped
1 tbsp fresh parsley chopped
½ tsp black pepper
¼ tsp salt
½ tsp dried oregano
Instructions
Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
Lightly grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
Prepare the Egg Mixture
In a large bowl whisk together:
eggs
milk
Greek yogurt
Mix until smooth.
Add the Filling
Stir into the egg mixture:
diced ham
shredded cheese
feta
onion
parsley
oregano
salt and pepper
Mix well so the ingredients are evenly distributed.
Layer the Phyllo
Place one sheet of phyllo in the baking dish.
Brush lightly with olive oil or melted butter.
Repeat with 4 sheets, brushing each layer.
Add the Filling
Pour the ham and cheese mixture evenly over the layered phyllo.
Finish the Top
Layer the remaining 4 sheets of phyllo on top, brushing each sheet with oil or butter.
Tuck the edges slightly into the pan.
Bake
Bake for 40–45 minutes until:
the top is golden brown
the filling is set
Cool Before Serving
Let the pie rest 10 minutes before slicing.
Serve warm or at room temperature.
