Ingredients:

1 unbaked 9-inch pie crust (store-bought or homemade)
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 cups whole milk
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg (plus extra for sprinkling)
3 large eggs (room temperature)
3/4 cup granulated sugar
1/4 teaspoon salt
Instructions:

1️⃣ Preheat the Oven:

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Place the unbaked pie crust in a 9-inch pie dish and crimp the edges as desired.
2️⃣ Whisk the Filling:

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, sugar, and salt until well combined and slightly frothy.
3️⃣ Add the Milk and Flavoring:

Slowly pour in the milk while whisking continuously. Add the vanilla extract and 1/4 teaspoon of nutmeg, stirring until smooth.
4️⃣ Pour the Custard into the Crust:

Carefully pour the custard mixture into the prepared pie crust.
5️⃣ Bake the Pie:

Place the pie on a baking sheet to catch any spills, then bake in the preheated oven for 45-50 minutes, or until the custard is set but still slightly jiggly in the center.
6️⃣ Cool and Sprinkle with Nutmeg:

Remove the pie from the oven and let it cool on a wire rack. Sprinkle the top with extra nutmeg for a beautiful finish.
7️⃣ Chill or Serve Warm:

You can serve the pie slightly warm or chill it in the refrigerator for a few hours before slicing.
Notes:

For a richer custard, use half-and-half or a mix of heavy cream and whole milk.
Shield the crust edges with aluminum foil if they start to brown too quickly.
