Makes: 4 large jars
Prep: 20 min | Cook: 10 min

Ingredients

Beef

  • 1 lb (450 g) ground beef
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce

Burger salad

  • 4 cups chopped romaine or iceberg lettuce
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 large tomato, diced
  • ¾ cup dill pickles, diced
  • ½ small onion, finely diced
  • ½ cup cooked beef per jar, approximately

Creamy Big Mac dressing

  • ½ cup mayonnaise
  • ¼ cup ketchup
  • 2 tbsp yellow mustard
  • 2 tbsp finely diced dill pickles
  • 1 tbsp pickle juice
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp onion powder
  • ½ tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • Black pepper, to taste

👨‍🍳 Method

  1. Make the sauce:
Mix all dressing ingredients together. Refrigerate for at least 15 minutes so the flavors blend.
  2. Cook the beef:
Brown the ground beef over medium-high heat, breaking it into small crumbles. Add salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder and Worcestershire sauce. Cook until nicely browned.
Cool completely before assembling the jars.
  3. Prepare the vegetables:
Chop the lettuce, tomato, pickles and onion. Pat the tomatoes and pickles relatively dry so the salad doesn’t become watery.
  4. Layer each jar from bottom to top:
    • 3 tbsp Big Mac dressing
    • 2–3 tbsp diced pickles
    • diced onion
    • diced tomato
    • cooked ground beef
    • shredded cheddar
    • chopped lettuce
  5. Seal and refrigerate.
They should keep well for about 3 days when properly chilled.
  6. To serve:
Shake the sealed jar vigorously, then dump it into a large bowl and toss.

🔥 The secret to making it REALLY good

For the closest fast-food cheeseburger flavor, don’t make the beef bland. Get it deeply browned and use plenty of finely diced pickles in the sauce.
