bacon crisp

Something I’d like to ask to members who are clearly across the pond.

Bacon.

Every single time I see bacon on US series/programmes it’s been cooked until it’s crispy.

In the UK, perfect bacon isn’t crispy. The fatty edges are but not the whole thing. Why do the US cook it like that ?
