Ingredients

For the Strawberry Sauce

  • 1Β½ cups fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • Β½ teaspoon vanilla extract

For the Sundae

  • 4 scoops vanilla ice cream
  • 2 scoops strawberry ice cream
  • Β½ cup fresh strawberries, sliced
  • ΒΌ cup whipped cream
  • 2 tablespoons chopped nuts (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons chocolate or strawberry syrup
  • Maraschino cherries, for topping (optional)

Instructions

  1. Make the strawberry sauce: Add sliced strawberries, sugar, and lemon juice to a small saucepan. Cook over medium heat for 4–5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the strawberries soften and release their juices.
  2. Add vanilla: Remove from the heat and stir in the vanilla extract. Let the sauce cool for a few minutes.
  3. Assemble: Divide the vanilla and strawberry ice cream between two serving glasses or bowls.
  4. Add strawberries: Spoon fresh sliced strawberries and a generous amount of strawberry sauce over the ice cream.
  5. Top: Add whipped cream, chopped nuts, and a drizzle of chocolate or strawberry syrup.
  6. Finish: Add a cherry on top if desired and serve immediately.

🍨 Tip

For an extra-special sundae, layer ice cream β†’ strawberry sauce β†’ fresh strawberries β†’ ice cream β†’ sauce β†’ whipped cream for a beautiful, classic presentation.
