Ingredients
Meat & Vegetables
- 1 lb 450g ground beef
- 8 oz 225g fresh mushrooms, sliced
- 1 small onion finely diced
- 2 cloves garlic minced
Creamy Base
- 1 cup 240 ml sour cream
- ½ cup 120 ml heavy cream
- 1 cup 100g shredded mozzarella cheese
- ½ cup 50g shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 tbsp olive oil or butter
Seasonings
- 1 tsp salt
- ½ tsp black pepper
- ½ tsp paprika
- ½ tsp dried thyme optional
- ¼ tsp chili flakes optional for heat
Instructions
- Preheat the Oven
- Set oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Lightly grease a 9×9-inch baking dish.
- Cook the Beef
- Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat.
- Add ground beef and cook until browned (about 5–7 minutes).
- Drain excess fat if needed.
- Season with salt, pepper, and paprika.
- Sauté Vegetables
- In the same pan, add onion and garlic. Cook 2–3 minutes.
- Add mushrooms and cook until softened and most moisture evaporates (about 5–7 minutes).
- Stir in thyme and chili flakes if using.
- Combine the Creamy Mixture
- In a bowl, mix sour cream and heavy cream until smooth.
- Stir in half of the mozzarella.
- Assemble
- Spread beef evenly in the baking dish.
- Layer mushroom mixture over the beef.
- Pour creamy mixture evenly on top.
- Sprinkle remaining mozzarella and cheddar over everything.
- Bake
- Bake uncovered for 25–30 minutes, until bubbly and golden on top.
- Rest & Serve
- Let sit for 5–10 minutes before serving.
