Baked Chicken Parmesan!
Ingredients:
- 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 large eggs, beaten
- 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
- 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 cup marinara sauce
- 1 ½ cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- Fresh basil leaves for garnish (optional)
- Olive oil spray or cooking spray
Instructions:
- Preheat the oven:
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it with cooking spray.
- Prepare the chicken:
- Season the chicken breasts with salt and black pepper on both sides.
- Set up a breading station with three shallow dishes: one with flour, one with beaten eggs, and one with a mixture of panko breadcrumbs, grated Parmesan cheese, dried oregano, garlic powder, and onion powder.
- Bread the chicken:
- Dredge each chicken breast in the flour, shaking off any excess.
- Dip it in the beaten eggs, allowing any excess to drip off.
- Press it into the breadcrumb mixture, ensuring it is fully coated. Place the breaded chicken on the prepared baking sheet.
- Bake the chicken:
- Lightly spray the tops of the chicken breasts with olive oil spray or cooking spray. This will help them achieve a golden, crispy crust.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through and the coating is golden brown.
- Add marinara and cheese:
- Remove the baking sheet from the oven. Spoon marinara sauce evenly over each chicken breast.
- Sprinkle shredded mozzarella cheese over the marinara sauce.
- Bake again:
- Return the baking sheet to the oven and bake for an additional 5-7 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Serve:
