Vegan Flatbread

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup warm water
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil (plus extra for brushing)
  • Optional: herbs like rosemary or thyme, garlic powder, or other seasonings of your choice

Instructions:

  1. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  2. Gradually add the warm water and olive oil to the dry ingredients, stirring until a dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for about 5 minutes, or until it becomes smooth and elastic.
  4. Divide the dough into smaller portions, depending on how many flatbreads you want to make.
  5. Roll out each portion of dough into a thin circle or oval shape, about 1/8 inch thick.
  6. Heat a non-stick skillet or griddle over medium-high heat.
  7. Place one flatbread in the skillet and cook for 1-2 minutes, or until bubbles start to form on the surface and the bottom is lightly browned.
  8. Flip the flatbread and cook for another 1-2 minutes on the other side, until golden brown and cooked through.
  9. Repeat with the remaining portions of dough.
  10. Optional: Brush the cooked flatbreads with olive oil and sprinkle with any additional seasonings, if desired.
  11. Serve warm and enjoy your homemade vegan flatbreads!
