Vegan Flatbread
Ingredients:
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup warm water
- 2 tablespoons olive oil (plus extra for brushing)
- Optional: herbs like rosemary or thyme, garlic powder, or other seasonings of your choice
Instructions:
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
- Gradually add the warm water and olive oil to the dry ingredients, stirring until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for about 5 minutes, or until it becomes smooth and elastic.
- Divide the dough into smaller portions, depending on how many flatbreads you want to make.
- Roll out each portion of dough into a thin circle or oval shape, about 1/8 inch thick.
- Heat a non-stick skillet or griddle over medium-high heat.
- Place one flatbread in the skillet and cook for 1-2 minutes, or until bubbles start to form on the surface and the bottom is lightly browned.
- Flip the flatbread and cook for another 1-2 minutes on the other side, until golden brown and cooked through.
- Repeat with the remaining portions of dough.
- Optional: Brush the cooked flatbreads with olive oil and sprinkle with any additional seasonings, if desired.
- Serve warm and enjoy your homemade vegan flatbreads!
