Ingredients
- 2½ cups all-purpose flour (maida)
- 1½ cups granulated sugar
- ¾ cup oil (or 1 cup melted butter for richer taste)
- 1 cup milk, room temperature
- 4 eggs, room temperature
- 2½ teaspoons baking powder
- ½ teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ¼ cup yogurt (very important for softness)

- Preheat oven to 170°C (340°F).
Grease and line an 8-inch cake pan.
- In a bowl, sift flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
- In another bowl, beat eggs and sugar until light, pale, and fluffy (3–4 minutes).
- Add oil (or melted butter) and mix well.
- Add milk, yogurt, and vanilla extract. Mix gently.
- Gradually add dry ingredients in 2–3 batches.
Fold gently until just combined (do NOT overmix).
- Pour batter into prepared pan and tap lightly to remove air bubbles.
- Bake for 35–40 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Let cake cool in pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.
