Ingredients:
For the Filling:
- 1 cup finely shredded cabbage
- 1/2 cup ground chicken or turkey (99% fat-free)
- 2 green onions, finely chopped
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon ginger, grated
- 1 tablespoon low-sodium soy sauce
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
For the Wrapper:
- Wonton or dumpling wrappers (look for lower-point options if available)
For Cooking:
- Cooking spray
- Water for steaming
Instructions:
- Prepare the Filling:
- In a bowl, combine the finely shredded cabbage, ground chicken or turkey, chopped green onions, minced garlic, grated ginger, soy sauce, sesame oil, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
- Assemble the Potstickers:
- Place a small amount of the filling in the center of each wonton wrapper.
- Moisten the edges of the wrapper with a bit of water and fold in half, pressing to seal. You can use a fork to create a decorative edge.
- Cooking Options:
- Pan-Frying Method (with minimal oil):
- Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat and lightly coat it with cooking spray.
- Place the potstickers in the skillet, flat side down, and cook until the bottoms are golden brown.
- Add a small amount of water to the skillet and cover to steam the potstickers until the filling is cooked through.
- Steaming Method (with no added oil):
- Place the potstickers in a steamer basket lined with parchment paper or cabbage leaves.
- Steam the potstickers for about 10-12 minutes or until the filling is cooked through.
- Pan-Frying Method (with minimal oil):
- Serve:
- Once cooked, serve the potstickers with a dipping sauce made from low-sodium soy sauce, a splash of rice vinegar, and a dash of sesame oil.
