How to Make Lemon Powder (Simple & Natural)
What you need
- Fresh lemons
- Knife or peeler
- Oven, dehydrator, or sun
- Blender or spice grinder
Method 1: Oven-Dried (Most Common)
- Wash lemons well.
- Peel only the yellow zest (avoid white pith—it’s bitter).
- Spread zest thinly on a baking tray.
- Dry at 170–180°F (75–80°C) for 1½–2 hours, until crisp.
- Cool completely.
- Grind into a fine powder.
- Store in an airtight jar.
Method 2: Whole Lemon Powder (More Fiber)
- Slice lemons very thin.
- Remove seeds.
- Dry slices fully (oven 170°F for 3–4 hours).
- Grind into powder.
⚠️ Slight bitterness—great for savory dishes.
Method 3: Sun-Dried (Traditional)
- Place zest or thin slices on a clean tray.
- Cover with mesh or cloth.
- Sun-dry 2–3 days until brittle.
- Grind and store.
