Keto Sausage & Cabbage Bake

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb (450g) sausage (use keto-friendly sausage, like pork or chicken sausage, sliced or crumbled)
  • 1 small head of cabbage, chopped
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (optional)
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream or cream cheese (for extra creaminess)
  • 2 tbsp olive oil or butter
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika (optional)
  • 1 tsp dried thyme or Italian seasoning

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large skillet, heat olive oil or butter over medium heat. Add chopped onion and garlic, sauté until translucent.
  3. Add the sausage to the skillet and cook until browned and cooked through. If crumbled sausage, break it up as it cooks.
  4. Add chopped cabbage to the skillet, season with salt, pepper, smoked paprika, and thyme. Cook for about 5–7 minutes until cabbage softens a bit.
  5. If using, stir in heavy cream or cream cheese now, mixing well to combine and create a creamy texture.
  6. Transfer the sausage and cabbage mixture into a baking dish.
  7. Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese on top (optional).
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 15–20 minutes until the cheese melts and turns golden brown.
  9. Remove from oven, let cool slightly, then serve hot!
