Keto Garlic Parmesan Jicama Fries

Ingredients

  • 1 medium jicama (about 1 pound)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika (smoked or regular)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven:
    • Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. Prepare the Jicama:
    • Peel the jicama and cut it into fry-shaped pieces (about 1/4 inch thick).
  3. Parboil the Jicama (Optional but recommended):
    • Bring a pot of water to a boil. Add the jicama fries and cook for about 10-15 minutes until slightly tender. Drain and let cool.
  4. Season the Fries:
    • In a large bowl, combine the olive oil, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and pepper. Add the jicama fries and toss until they are well coated.
  5. Bake the Fries:
    • Spread the jicama fries in a single layer on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake in the preheated oven for about 25-30 minutes, flipping halfway through, until they are golden and crispy.
  6. Add Parmesan:
    • In the last 5 minutes of baking, sprinkle the grated Parmesan cheese over the fries. Return to the oven and bake until the cheese is melted and slightly crispy.
  7. Serve:
    • Remove from the oven and let cool for a few minutes. Garnish with fresh parsley and additional salt if desired. Serve warm.

Tips

  • For extra flavor, consider adding other seasonings such as Italian herbs or cayenne pepper.
  • Serve with a low-carb dipping sauce, like ranch or garlic aioli
