Ingredients:
- 6 slices turkey bacon, chopped (reduces saturated fat and SmartPoints)
- 1 large onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 large head cabbage, cored and sliced
- 1 tablespoon olive oil (use sparingly to reduce SmartPoints)
- 1 teaspoon salt, or to taste
- 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon smoked paprika (reducing slightly for flavor)
Instructions:
- In a large non-stick skillet, cook the turkey bacon over medium-high heat until it becomes crispy, about 8-10 minutes.
- Add the diced onion and minced garlic to the skillet. Cook and stir until the onion becomes translucent, about 5 minutes.
- Drizzle olive oil over the mixture and stir. This will add a touch of healthy fat to enhance flavors.
- Immediately stir in the sliced cabbage and continue to cook and stir for another 8-10 minutes until the cabbage wilts slightly.
- Season with salt, black pepper, onion powder, garlic powder, and smoked paprika. Adjust the seasoning to your taste.
- Reduce the heat to low, cover the skillet, and let it simmer for an additional 20-25 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Taste and adjust seasonings if necessary. Serve hot.
