🥧 Cottage Pie with Crispy Roasties (Air Fryer)
Ingredients
Meat Filling
- 1 lb (450 g) ground beef
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 1 carrot, diced small
- 1 cup frozen peas
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 tbsp tomato paste
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 cup beef stock
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tsp salt
- ½ tsp black pepper
- ½ tsp dried thyme or rosemary
Crispy Roastie Topping
- 3–4 medium potatoes
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- ½ tsp salt
- ½ tsp black pepper
- ½ tsp paprika (optional)
- ½ tsp garlic powder (optional)
Instructions
1. Make the Roast Potatoes
- Peel (optional) and cut potatoes into small chunks.
- Parboil in salted water for 8–10 minutes until just tender.
- Drain, shake to rough up edges.
- Toss with olive oil, salt, pepper, and optional seasonings.
- Air fry at 400°F (205°C) for 15–18 minutes, shaking halfway.
- Set aside.
2. Prepare the Cottage Pie Filling
- Heat olive oil in a skillet.
- Sauté onion and carrot until softened (5 minutes).
- Add garlic and cook 30 seconds.
- Add ground beef and brown well.
- Stir in tomato paste and Worcestershire sauce.
- Pour in beef stock, season with salt, pepper, and herbs.
- Simmer 10–15 minutes until thick.
- Stir in peas, remove from heat.
3. Assemble
- Spoon beef mixture into an air fryer–safe dish.
- Arrange crispy roast potatoes evenly on top.
- Lightly spray potatoes with oil for extra crunch.
Air Fryer Finish
- Cook
- Air fry at 380°F (193°C) for 10–12 minutes
- Until bubbling and roasties are golden
- Optional Extra Crisp
- Increase to 400°F (205°C) for 2–3 minutes
Serve & Enjoy
- Let rest 5 minutes before serving.
- Perfect with steamed greens or gravy on the side 🥕🥬
