Classic Hawaiian Macaroni Salad recipe
Ingredients
- 2 cups elbow macaroni
- 1/4 cup grated carrot
- 1/4 cup finely chopped celery
- 1/4 cup finely chopped onion
- 2 cups mayonnaise (preferably Best Foods or Hellmann’s)
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Cook the Macaroni:
- Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the macaroni and cook until very soft, about 10-12 minutes. Drain and rinse under cold water.
- Prepare the Dressing:
- In a large bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise, milk, apple cider vinegar, sugar, salt, and pepper until smooth.
- Combine Ingredients:
- Add the cooked macaroni to the dressing and stir until evenly coated.
- Add the grated carrot, chopped celery, and chopped onion. Mix well.
- Chill and Serve:
- Cover the salad and refrigerate for at least 1 hour before serving, allowing the flavors to meld. It’s best served cold.
- Adjust Seasoning:
- Taste and adjust the seasoning with additional salt, pepper, or sugar if needed before serving.
