Air Fryer Potato Chips

Ingredients:

  • 2 large potatoes (russet or your preferred variety)
  • 1-2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Salt, to taste
  • Optional: seasoning of your choice (such as paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, or chili powder)

Instructions:

  1. Wash and scrub the potatoes thoroughly to remove any dirt. You can peel them if you prefer, but leaving the skin on adds texture and flavor.
  2. Slice the potatoes thinly using a mandoline slicer or a sharp knife. Aim for slices about 1/8 inch thick. Try to keep the slices uniform in thickness for even cooking.
  3. Place the sliced potatoes in a bowl of cold water and let them soak for about 30 minutes. This helps remove excess starch, which will result in crispier chips.
  4. After soaking, drain the potato slices and pat them dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture.
  5. Place the dried potato slices in a large bowl and drizzle with olive oil. Toss the slices gently to coat them evenly with the oil. You want a thin, even layer of oil on each slice.
  6. Season the potato slices with salt and any other desired seasonings, tossing again to ensure even distribution.
  7. Preheat your air fryer to 360°F (180°C) for a few minutes.
  8. Once preheated, arrange the potato slices in a single layer in the air fryer basket, making sure they don’t overlap.
  9. Cook the potato slices in the air fryer for 10-15 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through cooking to ensure even crisping. Keep an eye on them towards the end of the cooking time to prevent burning. The chips are done when they are golden brown and crispy.
  10. Once cooked, remove the potato chips from the air fryer and let them cool slightly before serving. Enjoy your homemade potato chips as a delicious snack!
