The other day I walked into the store and saw pineapple on sale. I bought a few and was thinking of ways to eat them. It’s the dead of winter and I wanted nothing more than to be somewhere tropical. Even though I can’t be there physically, I can get a taste of summer through fresh tropical fruits like pineapple.

Growing up, pineapple is one of my favorite fruits and it still is. We’d eat it, cut up with a sprinkle of salt and red chili powder, or in fresh fruit salads, cooked in curries or cooked with sugar as a dessert. This grilled pineapple makes me nostalgic.

INGREDIENTS

  • Pineapple – I recommend fresh pineapple. I will show you how to cut a pineapple in this post, when you scroll down a bit. Canned pineapple can be used in a pinch.
  • Brown sugar
  • Melted butter
  • Cinnamon
  • Nutmeg
  • Cayenne (Optional) – add a nice spicy kick but it’s totally optional.

How To Make Grilled Pineapple In Air Fryer

Making grilled pineapple in the Air fryer is so easy. Here’s how to do it:

  1. Cut the pinepple into rings or quarters.
  2. Add the pineapple along with melted butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg into a large mixing bowl and mix until well combined.
  3. Preheat the Air fryer at 380F for 5 minutes.
  4. Line the Air fryer with parchment paper and place the pineapple slices. Sprinkle more brown sugar on top.
  5. Air fry at 380F for 12 to 15 minutes until the slices are browned on the edges.
  6. Remove and serve with vanilla ice cream.

Best Tips

  • Use fresh pineapple. If you want to use canned pineapple, drain the slices and dry them with a paper towel.
  • Preheat the Air fryer to cook faster and to mimic grilling.
  • Line the Air fryer basket with parchment paper for easy clean up.
  • Don’t overcrowd the air fryer basket. Place slices in a single layer.
  • Cook in batches if needed.

  • Reheat – in the microwave or Air fryer.
