Air Fryer Onion Rings

Ingredients:

  • 2 large onions, peeled and sliced into rings
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs (panko or regular)
  • 2 large eggs, beaten
  • 1 teaspoon paprika (optional)
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Cooking spray or oil for misting (preferably in a spray bottle)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for a few minutes.
  2. While the air fryer is preheating, prepare your ingredients. In one bowl, place the flour. In another bowl, combine the breadcrumbs, paprika, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. In a third bowl, beat the eggs.
  3. Take an onion ring, dip it into the flour, making sure it’s well coated. Shake off any excess flour.
  4. Next, dip the floured ring into the beaten eggs, ensuring it’s coated evenly.
  5. Finally, coat the ring in the breadcrumb mixture, pressing the crumbs onto the onion ring to make sure they adhere. Place the coated onion ring on a plate or tray.
  6. Repeat this process with all the onion rings.
  7. Once your air fryer is preheated, lightly spray or brush the air fryer basket with cooking spray or a small amount of oil to prevent sticking.
  8. Place the coated onion rings in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Make sure not to overcrowd them, as this can prevent even cooking. You may need to cook them in batches.
  9. Cook the onion rings at 400°F (200°C) for 8-10 minutes, flipping them halfway through the cooking time. The exact time may vary depending on your air fryer model, so keep an eye on them to avoid overcooking. They should become golden brown and crispy.
  10. Once they are cooked to your desired level of crispiness, remove the onion rings from the air fryer and serve hot.
  11. You can serve the air fryer onion rings with your favorite dipping sauce, such as ketchup, mayonnaise, or a spicy aioli…
