  • About 2 tablespoons softened butter, or enough to lightly butter each slice
  • Lawry’s Garlic Salt, to taste
  • 6 tablespoons pizza sauce, such as Pastorelli or Cento
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese, preferably shredded from a block
  • Optional toppings: drained pickled jalapeños, hot honey pickled jalapeños, drained capers, or finely chopped vegetables
  • Optional for serving: extra pizza sauce or ranch dressing

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 450°F. Have a metal baking sheet ready.
  2. Toast the bread in a toaster until lightly golden.
  3. Spread a thin layer of butter on each piece and sprinkle lightly with Lawry’s Garlic Salt.
  4. Arrange the toast on the baking sheet. Spread about 1 tablespoon of pizza sauce over each slice.
  5. Divide the mozzarella evenly between the six slices. Add optional toppings sparingly.
  6. Bake on the middle rack for 5 to 7 minutes, watching closely, until the cheese is melted and bubbly and the edges are golden.
  7. Let rest for 1 to 2 minutes, then cut into triangles. Serve with extra pizza sauce or ranch dressing, if desired.
