Ingredients
For the Hamburger Steaks:
2 lbs (900 g) ground beef
1 small onion, finely diced
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 large egg
½ cup breadcrumbs
1 teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon black pepper
1 teaspoon onion powder
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley (optional)
For the Creamy Mushroom Sauce:
2 cans (10.5 oz each) cream of mushroom soup
1 cup beef broth
½ cup sour cream
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
½ teaspoon black pepper
½ teaspoon dried thyme
½ teaspoon paprika
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, onion, garlic, egg, breadcrumbs, salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, Worcestershire sauce, and parsley. Mix gently until everything is evenly combined.
Shape the mixture into 6–8 thick hamburger steaks and arrange them in the prepared baking dish.
In another bowl, whisk together the cream of mushroom soup, beef broth, sour cream, Worcestershire sauce, thyme, paprika, and black pepper until smooth.
Pour the creamy mushroom mixture evenly over the hamburger steaks, making sure each patty is generously coated.
Cover the dish tightly with aluminum foil and bake for 40 minutes.
Remove the foil and continue baking for another 20–25 minutes, or until the hamburger steaks are fully cooked and the sauce is hot and bubbly.
Let the casserole rest for 5 minutes before serving so the sauce can thicken slightly.
