dish features tender

Ingredients:
500g  pork belly, cut into chunks

2 tablespoons  soy sauce

1 tablespoon dark soy sauce

1 tablespoon sugar

1 tablespoon  oyster sauce

Pork

1 tablespoon rice wine or Shaoxing wine

3-4 slices ginger

2 cloves garlic, smashed

1 star anise (optional)

1/2 cup water or chicken broth

1 tablespoon vegetable oil

1 teaspoon sesame oil

Chopped spring onions for garnish (optional)

Instructions:

Heat the vegetable oil in a pot over medium heat. Add the ginger and  garlic, and sauté until fragrant.

Add the  pork belly chunks to the pot, and brown them on all sides for about 5-7 minutes.

Add the soy sauce, dark soy sauce, oyster sauce, sugar, and  rice wine. Stir well to coat the pork evenly.

Add the water or chicken broth and star anise (if using). Bring the mixture to a boil.

Lower the heat, cover the pot, and let the pork simmer for 45 minutes to 1 hour, or until the pork is tender and the sauce has thickened.

Stir in the sesame oil and let it cook for another 5 minutes.

Garnish with chopped spring onions if desired and serve with steamed rice or your favorite side dishes.
