Tony’s Flying Dutchman Burger

The flavors and assembly of this burger by tashaliana are totally viral-worthy! With a perfect creamy burger sauce and onions as buns, this recipe really hits in all the right places.

Ingredients

  • Onion Bun:
  • 1 Large Yellow Onion
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire Sauce
  • 1/2 tsp Tony Chachere’s
  • 1/2 tsp Brown Sugar
  • Burger Patty:
  • 12 oz 80/20 ground beef
  • 1/2 tbsp Tony Chachere’s
  • 4 slices American cheese
  • Sauce:
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tbsp Relish
  • 1 tbsp Dijon Mustard
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire
  • 1 tsp Sugar
  • 1 tsp Garlic Powder
  • 1 tsp Onion Powder
  • 1 tsp Smoke Paprika
  • 1 tsp Tony Chachere’s
  • Cayenne Pepper to taste

Directions

  1. Peel and cut onion into 4, 1/2 inch slices.
  2. Drizzle each onion slice with Worcestershire sauce, Olive Oil and a pinch of seasoning.
  3. In a pan on medium low heat, caramelize onions for about 10 minutes on each side. Onions should have a nice sear on outside and soft through the middle. Set aside for assembly.
  4. Season Ground Beef with Tony Chachere’s.
  5. Roll 4 ground beef patties and smash down into thin patties.
  6. On medium high heat, sear burger patties in a pan 2-3 minutes per side or until cooked through.
  7. Add a slice of American cheese to each patty, allow the cheese to melt, and remove from the pan.
  8. Combine all ingredients for burger sauce together in a bowl and whisk to combine.
  9. Spoon sauce on top of the burgers or to the side for dipping.
  10. Assemble burgers using onions as buns and enjoy!
