High-Protein Sausage Crescent Rolls 🌭🥐💪

A healthier, protein-packed twist on classic sausage crescent rolls. These are great for breakfast, snacks, or meal prep—crispy outside with a savory, cheesy filling.

Ingredients (8 rolls)

Filling

250 g lean ground sausage (chicken or turkey for higher protein)

½ cup low-fat cream cheese or blended cottage cheese

½ cup shredded mozzarella cheese

1 tbsp Greek yogurt

½ tsp garlic powder

½ tsp onion powder

½ tsp black pepper

Dough (high-protein option)

1 cup self-rising flour

1 cup plain Greek yogurt

(This replaces traditional crescent dough and boosts protein.)

Optional topping:

1 tbsp grated parmesan

1 egg (for egg wash)

Instructions

  1. Cook the sausage

Heat a skillet over medium heat.

Cook the ground sausage until browned and fully cooked.

Drain excess grease and let cool slightly.

  1. Make the filling

In a bowl mix:

cooked sausage

cream cheese or cottage cheese

mozzarella

Greek yogurt

garlic powder, onion powder, pepper

Mix until creamy and well combined.

  1. Prepare the dough

In another bowl mix self-rising flour + Greek yogurt.

Knead for 1–2 minutes until a soft dough forms.

  1. Roll and fill

Roll dough into a circle about ¼ inch thick.

Cut into 8 triangle shapes like pizza slices.

Place 1–2 tbsp sausage filling at the wide end.

Roll toward the tip to form crescent shapes.

  1. Bake

Place on a lined baking sheet.

Brush with egg wash and sprinkle parmesan.

Bake at 375°F / 190°C for 18–22 minutes until golden.
