Million Dollar Pound Cake (classic recipe)
Ingredients
- 1 pound (4 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
- 3 cups granulated sugar
- 6 large eggs, room temperature
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- ¾ cup whole milk
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon almond extract (optional but very “million-dollar”)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 300°F (150°C). Grease and flour a large bundt or tube pan really well.
- Cream butter and sugar together until very light and fluffy (don’t rush this—5–7 minutes).
- Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each.
- Alternate adding flour and milk, beginning and ending with flour. Mix just until combined.
- Stir in vanilla (and almond extract if using).
- Pour batter into pan and smooth the top.
- Bake 1 hour 30 minutes to 1 hour 40 minutes, until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Cool in pan 15 minutes, then turn out and cool completely.
