Ingredients:
1 sheet puff pastry, defrosted
1 teaspoon unsalted butter
3 Granny Smith apples
1/4 cup brown sugar
1 teaspoon cornstarch
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/8 teaspoon salt
1 egg
1 tablespoon water
For the Glaze:
1/2 cup powdered sugar
1/4 cup heavy cream (or substitute with 3 tablespoons of water)
Let’s Bake!
Preheat oven to 400°F.
Prepare the Apples: Peel, core, and slice apples. Toss them with brown sugar, cornstarch, cinnamon, and salt.
Cook the Filling: Melt butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Add the apple mixture and cook until the sauce thickens (~5 minutes). Remove from heat.
Prep the Pastry: Cut the puff pastry sheet into 4 squares. Divide the apple mixture among them, placing it in the center.
Seal the Deal: Whisk egg and water for the egg wash. Brush the pastry edges, fold over to seal, and press edges with a fork.
Bake: Place turnovers on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Brush with more egg wash and bake until golden brown (18-20 minutes).
Glaze & Enjoy: Mix the powdered sugar and heavy cream. Drizzle over cooled turnovers. Let the glaze harden, then serve and savor!
