
Salmon Patties (Salmon Cakes)
Ingredients
- 1 (14–15 oz) can salmon, drained and flaked
(remove skin/bones if desired) - 1 large egg
- ⅓ cup breadcrumbs or crushed crackers
- 2 tbsp mayonnaise
- 1 tbsp Dijon or yellow mustard
- 2 tbsp finely diced onion
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- 1 tbsp chopped parsley (or dill)
- ½ tsp garlic powder
- Salt & black pepper, to taste
- 2–3 tbsp oil for frying
Instructions
- Mix
In a bowl, combine salmon, egg, breadcrumbs, mayo, mustard, onion, lemon juice, parsley, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Mix gently until just combined. - Form patties
Shape into 6–8 patties. If mixture feels soft, chill 10–15 minutes. - Cook
Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat.
Cook patties 3–4 minutes per side until golden brown and heated through. - Drain & serve
Transfer to paper towels. Serve hot.

- With tartar sauce or lemon aioli
- Over a salad
- On a bun as a salmon burger
- With mac & cheese or coleslaw
Variations & Tips
- Crispier: Use panko instead of regular breadcrumbs.
- Southern-style: Add a pinch of Old Bay or Cajun seasoning.
- No mayo: Substitute Greek yogurt.
- Air fryer: 375°F (190°C) for 8–10 minutes, flip halfway.
