Salisbury Steak with Mashed Potatoes and Mushroom Gravy

Ingredients

For the Salisbury Steak:

  • 1 lb ground beef (80/20)
  • 1 egg
  • ¼ cup almond flour
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp Dijon mustard
  • ½ tsp onion powder
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • 1 tbsp butter (for frying)

For the Mushroom Gravy:

  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 1 cup mushrooms (sliced)
  • ½ cup beef broth
  • ¼ cup heavy cream
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • Salt & pepper to taste
  • ¼ tsp xanthan gum (for thickening)

For the Mashed Cauliflower:

  • 1 medium head cauliflower (chopped)
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • ¼ cup heavy cream
  • ¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Salt & pepper to taste

Instructions

Step 1: Make the Salisbury Steaks

  1. In a bowl, mix ground beef, egg, almond flour, Worcestershire sauce, mustard, onion powder, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
  2. Form into 3-4 oval-shaped patties.
  3. Heat a skillet over medium heat and melt 1 tbsp butter. Sear the patties for 3-4 minutes per side until browned. Remove and set aside.

Step 2: Prepare the Mushroom Gravy

  1. In the same skillet, add 1 tbsp butter and sauté mushrooms until soft.
  2. Pour in beef broth, heavy cream, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
  3. Sprinkle xanthan gum and whisk well to thicken. Let simmer for 5 minutes.
  4. Return the Salisbury steaks to the skillet and simmer for another 5 minutes.

Step 3: Make the Mashed Cauliflower

  1. Boil or steam cauliflower until soft. Drain well.
  2. Blend with butter, heavy cream, Parmesan, salt, and pepper until smooth.
