Ribeye steak in the air fryer

Ingredients:

  • 1 ribeye steak (approximately 1 inch thick)
  • 1-2 teaspoons of olive oil
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Optional seasonings (garlic powder, rosemary, thyme, or your preferred steak seasoning)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for a few minutes.
  2. While the air fryer is preheating, take the ribeye steak out of the refrigerator and let it sit at room temperature for about 20-30 minutes. This helps the steak cook more evenly.
  3. Pat the steak dry with a paper towel to remove any excess moisture. This will help achieve a nice sear.
  4. Rub the steak with a teaspoon or two of olive oil, making sure it’s coated evenly. This will help the steak brown and sear nicely.
  5. Season the steak generously with salt, pepper, and any optional seasonings you prefer. Make sure to season both sides.
  6. Place the seasoned ribeye steak in the preheated air fryer basket. Ensure there’s some space around it for proper air circulation.
  7. Cook the steak in the air fryer at 400°F (200°C) for about 12-16 minutes, depending on your desired level of doneness and the thickness of the steak. Use the following as a rough guide:
    • 12 minutes for medium-rare
    • 14 minutes for medium
    • 16 minutes for medium-well
  8. About halfway through the cooking time, flip the steak over with tongs to ensure even cooking. If you’d like, you can brush the steak with a bit more olive oil for added flavor and browning.
  9. Check the internal temperature of the steak with a meat thermometer to ensure it reaches your preferred doneness. For medium-rare, aim for an internal temperature of around 130-135°F (54-57°C). Adjust the cooking time if needed.
  10. Once the steak is cooked to your desired level of doneness, remove it from the air fryer and let it rest for a few minutes. This resting period allows the juices to redistribute and results in a more flavorful and tender steak.
  11. Slice the ribeye steak against the grain, and it’s ready to serve..
