🧾 Ingredients (8–10 rolls)
- 3 cups (375 g) all-purpose flour
- 1½ tsp instant yeast (or active dry yeast*)
- 1½ tsp sugar
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 cup (240 ml) warm water (not hot)
- 2 tbsp oil (vegetable, sunflower, or olive)
*If using active dry yeast, dissolve it in the warm water with sugar first and wait 5–10 minutes until foamy.
👩🍳 Instructions
- Mix the dough
In a large bowl, add flour, yeast, sugar, and salt.
Pour in warm water and oil.
Mix with a spoon until you get a sticky, shaggy dough. - First rise (no kneading!)
Cover the bowl with a lid or plastic wrap.
Let rise in a warm place for 1½–2 hours, until doubled and bubbly. - Shape the rolls
Lightly flour your hands and surface.
Gently scoop and shape dough into balls (don’t knead).
Place on a lined or greased baking tray, slightly apart. - Second rest
Cover loosely and rest for 20–30 minutes. - Bake
Preheat oven to 190°C (375°F).
Bake for 18–22 minutes until golden brown. - Optional softness boost
Brush tops lightly with oil or water right after baking.
🍽 Tips & Variations
- Extra soft rolls: Place a small oven-safe bowl of hot water in the oven while baking
- Whole wheat: Replace 1 cup of flour with whole wheat flour
- Garlic rolls: Brush with garlic-oil after baking
- No oven? These can be cooked in a covered pan on very low heat
