Nestles House Toll Death by Chocolate Cake

Ingredients:
For the Cake:
- 1 box of Devil’s Food Cake Mix (or chocolate cake mix)
- 1 cup water
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 3 large eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 cup sour cream (optional for extra moisture)
For the Chocolate Frosting:
- 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
- 1/2 cup cocoa powder (preferably dark or unsweetened)
- 4 cups powdered sugar
- 1/2 cup milk
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips (for extra richness)
Instructions:
1. Prepare the Cake:
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans, or line them with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, combine the cake mix, water, vegetable oil, eggs, and vanilla extract. Mix well until smooth.
- Add in the sour cream and continue to mix until fully incorporated.
- Divide the batter evenly between the two cake pans.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Let the cakes cool in the pans for 10 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
2. Prepare the Chocolate Frosting:
- In a medium saucepan, melt the chocolate chips over low heat, stirring constantly until smooth. Remove from heat and let it cool for a few minutes.
- In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened butter and cocoa powder until smooth and creamy.
- Gradually add in the powdered sugar, one cup at a time, mixing well after each addition.
- Slowly add in the milk and vanilla extract, and beat until smooth and fluffy. Add more milk if the frosting is too thick.
- Stir in the melted chocolate until completely combined.
3. Assemble the Cake:
- Place the first cake layer on a serving platter and spread a generous amount of chocolate frosting on top.
- Place the second cake layer on top and frost the top and sides of the entire cake with the remaining chocolate frosting.
- Decorate with extra chocolate chips or shaved chocolate for a beautiful finish.
4. Serve and Enjoy:
- Slice and serve this indulgent “Death by Chocolate Cake” for a truly satisfying treat.
