Low Carb Chaffle Burger

Ingredients:

For the Chaffles:

  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup almond flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Cooking spray or oil for greasing waffle maker

For the Burger:

  • 1/4 lb ground beef (or your choice of ground meat)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Cheese slices (optional)
  • Lettuce leaves
  • Sliced tomatoes
  • Sliced onions
  • Pickles (optional)
  • Condiments of your choice (mustard, mayonnaise, etc.)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Chaffle Batter:
    • Preheat your waffle maker according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
    • In a bowl, combine shredded mozzarella cheese, eggs, almond flour, baking powder, salt, and pepper. Mix well until all ingredients are fully incorporated.
  2. Cook the Chaffles:
    • Lightly grease the waffle maker with cooking spray or oil.
    • Spoon about 1/4 to 1/2 cup of the chaffle batter onto the waffle maker (depending on the size of your waffle maker). Close the lid and cook until the chaffles are golden brown and crispy. This typically takes about 3-5 minutes, but cooking times may vary.
  3. Prepare the Burger Patties:
    • While the chaffles are cooking, season the ground beef with salt and pepper.
    • Form the ground beef into burger patties that are slightly larger than the size of your chaffles (since they will shrink when cooked).
  4. Cook the Burger Patties:
    • Heat a skillet or grill over medium-high heat.
    • Cook the burger patties for about 3-4 minutes per side, or until they reach your desired level of doneness. If using cheese slices, place them on top of the patties during the last minute of cooking to melt.
  5. Assemble the Chaffle Burgers:
    • Once the chaffles and burger patties are cooked, it’s time to assemble your burgers.
    • Place a chaffle on a plate, then add lettuce leaves, a burger patty (with or without cheese), sliced tomatoes, onions, pickles, and any other toppings you desire.
