KFC-Style Air Fryer Chicken (Inspired)
Ingredients
- 1 whole chicken, cut into 8–10 pieces
- 3 eggs, beaten
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 4 teaspoons paprika
(Optional but recommended: salt and black pepper to taste)
Preparation
- Prepare the chicken
- Cut the whole chicken into pieces (2 breasts, 2 thighs, 2 drumsticks, 2 wings).
- Pat the chicken completely dry with paper towels.
- Season the flour
- In a large bowl, mix:
- Flour
- Paprika
- (Optional salt & pepper)
- In a large bowl, mix:
- Egg wash
- Beat the eggs in a separate bowl.
Breading (Key to Crispy Coating)
- Dip each chicken piece into the beaten eggs.
- Coat thoroughly in the seasoned flour.
- For extra crunch:
- Dip back into egg → flour again.
- Place breaded chicken on a rack or plate and let rest 10 minutes (helps coating stick).
Air Fryer Cooking
- Preheat air fryer
- 375°F (190°C) for 5 minutes.
- Prepare basket
- Lightly spray basket with oil (important for crispiness).
- Cook chicken
- Place chicken in a single layer (do not overcrowd).
- Lightly spray tops with oil.
- Cooking time
- Cook at 375°F (190°C) for 25–30 minutes total
- Flip halfway (around 12–15 minutes)
- Spray lightly with oil after flipping
- Internal temperature
- Chicken is done at 165°F (74°C) internal temp.
Extra Crispy Finish (Optional)
- Increase temperature to 400°F (205°C) for the last 3–5 minutes.
