Keto Sausage and Cheese Breakfast Pizza
Ingredients:
For the Crust:
- 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 3/4 cup almond flour
- 1 tablespoon cream cheese
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder (optional)
- 1 large egg
For the Toppings:
- 1/2 pound breakfast sausage (crumbled and cooked)
- 4 large eggs
- 1/4 cup heavy cream
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (or any cheese of your choice)
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh chives or green onions, chopped (optional)
Instructions:
- Preheat the Oven:
- Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Make the Crust:
- In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the shredded mozzarella cheese and cream cheese. Microwave on high for 1 minute, stir, and then microwave for an additional 30 seconds or until the cheese is fully melted and combined.
- Add the almond flour, garlic powder, onion powder, and egg to the cheese mixture. Stir well to form a dough. If it’s too sticky, you can add a little more almond flour.
- Place the dough between two sheets of parchment paper and roll it out into a thin, even layer about 1/4 inch thick.
- Transfer the rolled-out dough to the prepared baking sheet. Use a fork to poke holes all over the dough to prevent it from bubbling up.
- Bake the crust in the preheated oven for about 8-10 minutes or until it turns golden brown.
- Prepare the Toppings:
- While the crust is baking, cook the breakfast sausage in a skillet over medium heat until browned and fully cooked. Drain any excess fat and set aside.
- In a bowl, whisk together the eggs, heavy cream, salt, and pepper.
- Assemble the Pizza:
- Once the crust is done baking, remove it from the oven and reduce the oven temperature to 375°F (190°C).
- Spread the cooked sausage evenly over the crust.
- Pour the egg mixture over the sausage.
- Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese on top.
- Bake the Pizza:
- Return the pizza to the oven and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes or until the eggs are set and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Garnish and Serve:
- Remove the pizza from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes. Garnish with chopped chives or green onions if desired.
- Slice and serve warm.
